Caves of Bue Marino
Until a few years back the caves of the Bue Marino were the natural habitat to monk seals ( perhaps it still secretly hangs around, who knows ) that the local population called “Bue Marino” due to its tapered shape and its behaviour, similar to that of an ox. 15 kilometers of marine cavities divided into two branches (the northern part is no longer accessible) rich in stalactites , stalagmites, lakes.Fifth cave by size in Italy and the first in Sardinia, this part of the island, where the sea meets the mountain, with its 70 kilometers of underground tunnels in the“belly” of the Gennargentu mountain range is the largest karst system of Italy.
